Gifting is one of the most important social tools, and of course the most important words of the language of love. You certainly don't want to miss an opportunity to make someone feel loved, seen, appreciated, heard, respected, well I could go on and on. In other words, a Skin Like Butter gift is not designed to compete with society's generic gift giving cues like Christmas, birthdays, Mother's Day etc. For example, a Skin Like Butter gift is not like something you would pick up at Sephora or Bath and Body Works on Black Friday. A Skin Like Butter gift would be something like you are encouraging your best friend you've known for years on her weight loss journey and you know she sacrificed her favorite thing in the world to get there (coffee ice cream), and you get her a cute little 4 pack of the 2 oz body butters of Coffee Ice Cream, (instead of a Haagen Daas gift card) with a sentiment note that says "Congratulations". Not sure if that was a good example, but our gifts are designed to be sweet little ways to touch the heart.
Remember I said in the blog post that fancy was old. Well unfortunately the internet has turned old money, stealth wealth, etc. into an actual trend. This is not a trend. This is the world that fancy has lived in for centuries. This "trend" has produced a wealth of videos that are helping people discover the virtues and qualities of a life that can be lived at any income level. However, if it's associated with ELITE, RICH, "QUIET LUXURY" etc., it gets a click. Although this video is about the "trend" it is an excellent lesson of the spirit of meaningful gift giving for any occasion. Although at (5:54...chapter 5) of the video it will say that a Skin Like Butter Gift would be highly inappropriate. In that context they would be correct. However, later in the video (12.10) it tells the context in which our Skin Like Butter gifts are touching, timeless, and perfect.
